4th of July in Somerville!

Posted on June 30, 2010

This Thursday, July 1st is the City of Somerville’s annual Fireworks and Independence Day Celebration! Festivities are located at Trum Field on Broadway. Free entertainment begins at 6:00 PM, with fireworks beginning at 9:15 PM. I like to bike over and sit by the Cedar Street Bridge to watch the show.

According to the City’s website, festivities this year will include performances by the 2010 Somerville Sunsetters, local Disco-Funk band Booty Vortex, the USO Metropolitan New York Performers, and the U.S. Navy Band Northeast Pops Ensemble.

In case you’re driving, there are a few street closures you should be aware of:

Broadway from Ball Square to Magoun Square
Cedar Street from Morrison Avenue to Broadway
Franey Road and Ryan Road

MBTA Bus service on Routes 80 and 89 will be rerouted from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Have a safe and great 4th of July!
