Posted on December 30, 2011

Tricornered hats? George Washington on horseback? Somerville residents in colonial garb?!

It’s the annual Somerville Flag Raising Celebration on January 1st! Help raise the flag, sing patriotic songs, and learn about the important role that Somerville played in the American Revolution. This reenactment commemorates the raising of the nation’s first official flag on New Year’s Day 1776.

Meet at City Hall at 11:30 AM and follow George Washington on horseback to Prospect Hill for the flag raising ceremony. Click here for more information on the event.
