2012 Wrap-Up and Residential Real Estate Taxes for 2013

Posted on December 29, 2012

Hello, readers –

I hope you’ve been enjoying the holiday season! As we close out 2012 and look forward to 2013, here are a few recent news items I’d like to highlight:

* Looking Back: The Somerville Beat has a great round-up of what people are saying about living in Somerville. (No surprises here, most people agree that Somerville is a “great place to live, work, play, and raise a family” – as Mayor Joe likes to say.)

* Looking Forward: Somerville was recently honored by Curbed Boston for its SomerVision Comprehensive Plan.

* Residential Tax Rates 2013: Somerville has released its numbers for the 2013 residential tax rate ($13.42/$1000 of assessed value and $1755.37 Residential Exemption). For more info on tax rates and the residential exemption, check out my post here.)

* Christmas Tree Disposal: Since I’ve already been asked, if you have a Christmas tree that you want to recycle, put it out on the curb on your regular trash day anytime in January and the city will pick it up and make it into mulch. (After January it will be treated as regular trash).

Happy New Year!
